Elder Law Research Guide: Databases

This guide presents the sources of law most often encountered in problems or disputes pertaining to the elderly.

About

The resources listed here are available through Loyola Law Library's subscriptions to electronic databases. For access to items in Lexis, Westlaw, or Bloomberg Law, you must have a user ID and password from those services. To use other subscription databases, you must have a valid Loyola ID and password.

Illinois Treatises and Practitioner Materials

Publications of the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE) are also available online only for current Loyola law students and faculty and only on campus via IICLE Online Library. If Loyola maintains a print copy, a call number is given. Print copies (non-circulating) can be found on the 3rd floor in the Reference area.

Current Loyola law students can register for free IICLE online access (and for other IICLE benefits) by going to the IICLE Law Student Resource Kit page (https://www.iicle.com/student) and creating an account (note that you must use your LUC e-mail account to register). Your student IICLE online account will allow you to access these publications from anywhere. Use of the IICLE Online Library is limited to academic (non-commercial) purposes only.

The entire list of titles is listed on the IICLE Online Library homepage. Use the "browse books" tab to open the list.  Here is a selection of IICLE titles that may assist with elder law research:

Lexis Elder Law Databases

Lexis has many databases that feature elder law primary sources: statutes, regulations, and cases, plus secondary sources like journals, association publications and newsletters, and practice guides.  Some primary law databases and secondary sources are listed here. Log in to traditional Lexis first, then open this research guide and use the links.

Access to these electronic resources is limited to users with Lexis IDs and passwords.

Westlaw Elder Law Databases

Access to these electronic resources is limited to users with Westlaw IDs and passwords.  Log in to Westlaw first.  Then, click on a link.
