Due to contract restrictions, some of the electronic legal research databases to which we subscribe - including LexisNexis and Westlaw - are available only to current students, faculty, and staff of Loyola University Chicago's School of Law. However, a number of others are available through four computers which can be used by anyone who has access to the library. See the entries on the On Campus Legal Research Resources page of this Guide for basic information about some of the most popular databases which you can access while visiting us.
All Law School Alumni retain access to the Law Library and its print materials, although that access does not include interlibrary loan services or use of the study rooms. Admittance to the library requires an alumni card, a photo id and being signed in on the guest log. Please note that alumni are not permited to bring guests into the Law Library. To request an alumni card, visit the LUC Alumni Office website. Checking out any materials from the Law Library requires an additional card, which can be obtained at the Law Library's circulation desk once you have entered our library. (Please note: this differs from the procedure used to check materials out from the LUC University Libraries.) The usage of the copier requires a guest copy card that can be obtained in the basement of the Corboy Law Center for small fee. If you have any questions, please contact the circulation desk, at (312) 915-6986 for more information.
As a Law School alum you also have access to LUC's University Libraries. Alumni will be admitted to the Lewis Library on the Water Tower campus and the Cudahy Library and Klarchek Information Commons on the Lakeshore campus by presenting their LUC alumni card and a government-issued photo ID. For more complete information, see the Law School's Alumni Relations page on obtaining an Alumni Library Card for use at the University Libraries.
