Copyright.gov, in addition to electronic filing and links to the primary law, has helpful resources for explaining copyright law:

  • Circulars - Documents written by the Copyright Office about specific issues relating to copyright and different types of protected works, such as registration, notice, derivative works, visual arts works, etc.
  • Compendium - Manual of procedure and copyright law written by the Copyright Office.
