2020 LUC Law Graduates’ Continuing Access to Law Library Resources: Home

Welcome!

Welcome Class of 2020!  Our Law Library space and services will continue to be available to you after you graduate.  You will be able to:

  • access our Law Library space even during "restricted access" periods
  • reserve select study rooms for workspace
  • receive reference help from our librarians
  • check out print books and request articles and other sources through interlibrary loan (ILL)
  • use your Loyola-issued Westlaw, Lexis, and Bloomberg law accounts for at least six months after graduation
  • access a wide variety of legal and non-legal electronic resources from computers on our 3rd floor

Access to Westlaw

All Spring 2020 JD graduates have access to their Loyola-issued Westlaw accounts for 60 hours per month for six months after graduation. While you cannot use your Loyola-issued account in situations where you are billing a client, Thomson Reuters encourages you to use these tools to build your knowledge of the law.

Access to Lexis

Under a new revision to the Lexis policy, all Spring 2020 JD graduates will have access to their Loyola-issued Lexis accounts through February 28, 2021, and they may use their accounts for any purpose.

In addition to the above access, Spring 2020 JD graduates who are engaged in verifiable 501(c)(3) public interest work can apply for a Lexis ASPIRE ID. Graduates who qualify for a Lexis ASPIRE ID will receive 12 months of free access to federal and state court cases, statutes, regulations, law journals, Shepard's, and Matthew Bender sources through Lexis. The application for an ASPIRE ID is available at https://www.lexisnexis.com/grad-access/, and you can read more about the ASPIRE program by clicking on the PDF at the bottom of this box.

Access to Bloomberg Law

Under current policy, all Spring 2020 JD graduates may continue to use their Loyola-issued Bloomberg Law accounts for any purpose until June 1, 2021.

Access to IP Address-Based Electronic Resources

Most electronic resources to which the Law Library subscribes will be available to 2020 graduates through computers on our 3rd floor.  See the On Campus Legal Research Resources page on our Alumni Services Guide for basic information about some of the most popular databases which you can access while visiting us.

Book Checkouts and Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

After you graduate, you still will be able to check out books from our print collection.  Also, you will be able to request articles, books, and other sources through our interlibrary loan (ILL) process.
