Child Law Research Guide: Selected Treatises

This guide includes resources for researching issues such as adoption, child abuse, child support, custody and visitation, and juvenile justice.

Selected treatises in the Loyola Law Library. To find an item in Loyola's collection which is not on this list, please use Loyola's online catalog.  Some suggested subject headings you can search and/or browse: 

Adoption--Law and legislation.

Children--Legal status, laws, etc.

Child abuse.

Child support--Law and legislation.

Custody of children.

Juvenile justice, administration of.

In the alternative, you can browse the shelves in the Library.  General Child Law subject materials are located on the 5th floor starting at call number KF 479; Illinois Child Law materials are shelved on the 3rd floor starting at at call number KFI 1294.

To locate books in libraries outside the Loyola University Chicago System, use the WorldCat database (valid Loyola ID and password required).

Illinois Treatises and Practitioner Materials

Unless otherwise indicated, these are publications of the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE), which also available electronically to members of the Loyola Chicago Law School community via Loyola's subscription to IICLE Online (see "Databases" tab for links).  Print copies can be found in the 3rd floor Reference area.

General Treatises and Practitioner Materials

The listed items are not restricted to any jurisdiction. They are also available electronically through the Law Library's subscription to Lexis or Westlaw, depending on the publisher - see the "Databases" tab for direct links to these (and other) titles. For access to items in Lexis or Westlaw, you must have a user ID and password from those services. Print copies can be found in Law - Main Stacks unless otherwise noted.
